The Danger Of Spiritual Lethargy.

“Wake up, O sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” (Eph. 5: 14)

Abnormal sleepiness is also called lethargy. The dictionary defines this word as “apathy; lack of interest and energy.” This drowsiness can sneak up you unexpectedly and when it takes hold of your spiritual life it spells disaster for you as  well as your church.

No one deliberately wishes to be a lukewarm or weak Christian, but when your Christian standards are compromised your spiritual life will inevitably be adversely affected. It is simply a matter of time before these second-class standardsdrive out the dynamic principles of the Master. And then they become a pleasant, gentle-sounding philosophy that no longer challenges you to a life of quality and excellence.

To keep your faith alive you need to work at it constantly. It is fatal to rest on your spiritual laurels, because in the love to which God has called you there can be no vanity. How does one then sustain a living and dynamic faith? A continually deeper prayer life, an inspired and intelligent study of the Bible and participation in the fellowship of the faithful are essential factors for spiritual growth. You know all these things; the question is whether you apply them.

If every believer would wake up spiritually, the world would be on fire for Christ. It would mean the end of violence, racial tension, bitterness and avarice, and Jesus Christ would reign as King.

God’s Family

No one is alone in this world. This is the gospel of God. There are many people who feel that they have no one to turn to, and there are others who claim they have no family. Neither they nor you are alone in this world, because through Jesus you are part of the most privileged family on earth: the family of God.

If you remember to turn to Jesus in all circumstances and place your trust in Him completely, you will experience the protected love of God that will grant you the peace that transcends all understanding. And then you will never again feel as if you are alone in life.

“Whatever may happen to you, God is your Father who is concerned about you. This is His attitude towards you.” Martin Lloyd Jones.

When Things Become Unmanageable

We all go through times when things threaten to overwhelm us and our faith appears to be an inadequate defense. It seems as if our circumstances are continually worsening, our relationships suffer grievous blows and everything suddenly appears unmanageable.

What is exactly happening is that you have allowed the challenges of the world to exceed your spiritual reserves. The demands of life have proved your faith to be insufficient. When you feel you have reached breaking point, you need to return to the fundamentals of your faith, and assure yourself of the presence of God in your life. This will help you to restore the balance in your life so that you can see people and events in the right perspective.

It is definitely not God’s intention to place you under so much pressure that you reach breaking point and collapse under the strain. A living and positive faith is a stabilizing influence under the most confusing circumstances. Possessing such a faith is not a spiritual luxury, but an urgent necessity if you wish to deal with the demands of life successfully.

Realising the necessity of faith is the first step to possessing it. If you are unaware of your need, how will you be able to fulfill it? When you tell the Lord you need His help and trust Him unconditionally you will know that He will carry you through, because you love and trust in Him.

SAY THIS PRAYER: Lord Jesus, through your wisdom and strength i am able to cope with all the demands of life. Keep me close to your heart at all times. (New Beginnings – Solly Ozrovech)

GOD BLESS YOU AND KEEP YOU FROM FALLING.

AMEN.

His Excellent Name

Psalms 8: 1 “O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is your name in all the earth.”

God’s excellent name is known because of His workmanship. In Psalms 8: 5-6, the author said, in effect, “Look to the heavens. See the majesty of God reflected in the planets and the stars. Look at the marvels of the sea and the wonders of the animal world – amazing and wonderful creations from God’s hand that live together in awe-inspiring balance and beauty. And look at man – crowned with glory and honour, made a little lower than the angels, and given all authority over all creation.”

Let us praise God, the one who spoke the heavens into being by the word of His power, the one who keeps the stars and planets spinning on their unseen courses. Let us magnify Him, the one who gives us the mysteries of the oceans, the rugged beauty of the mountains, and the intricate marvels of plant and animal life. Let us all exalt Him, the one who made us and crowned us with glory and honour.

“O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is Your name.”

“THE CREATOR DESERVES ALL PRAISE FROM HIS CREATION.”

Love is the Key

Romans 12: 14 “Bless those who persecuteyou; bless and do not curse.

There are those who find forgiveness extremely difficult. When you or someone that you love suffers as a result of someone else’s behaviour, you tend to habour hatred in your heart towards the person responsible instead of granting complete forgiveness.

True forgiveness requires complete purification. You cannot pretend to forgive while still holding a grudge against the person concerned. Forgiveness demands that the slate be wiped clean so that you can start anew without any anger in your heart.

This is of course humanly impossible, but with God the impossible becomes possible. The road to forgiveness is prayer. If someone has wronged you or someone you love, you must pray for the wrongdoer. Ask God to bless that person and to give you the grace to do so. Pray that His love will take away all bitterness so that the healing balm of His peace may flow through your being.

Once this has happened, you will find that the obstacle of bitterness has been removed, and the love of God will enable you to grant unconditional forgiveness.

The love of JESUS CHRIST has achieved victory over evil in its most barbaric forms.
