In The Car Wash

Isaiah 43: 2 “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you.”

I’ll never forget my first experience using an automatic car wash. Approaching it with the dread of going to the dentist, i pushed the money into the slot, nervously checked and rechecked my windows, eased the car up to the line, and waited. Powers beyond my control began moving my car forward as if on a conveyor belt. There was i, cocooned inside, when a thunderous rush of water hit my car from all directions. What if i get stuck in here or water crashes in? I thought irrationally. Suddenly the waters ceased. After a blowdry, my car was propelled into the outside world again, clean and polished.

In the midst of all this, I remember stormy times in my life when it seemed i was on a conveyor belt, a victim of forces beyond my control. “Car wash experiences,” I now call them. I remember that whenever i passed through deep waters my Redeemer had been with me, sheltering me against the rising tide (Ish. 43: 2). When i came out on the other side, which i always did, i was able to say with joy and confidence, “HE IS A  FAITHFUL GOD!”

Are you in the middle of a car-wash experience? Trust God to bring you through to the other side. You’ll then be a shining testimony of His keeping power.   (by Joanie Yoder)

MAY THE HOLY SPIRIT FILL YOUR HEART WITH THE JOY OF JESUS CHRIST.

Detecting Toxins

“There are some who trouble you and want to pervert the Gospel of Christ.” Galatians 1: 7

San Francisco and New York City are using bluegill fish to check for the presence of toxins in their water supply, which could be a possible target for a terrorist attack. A small number of bluegills are kept in a tank at the bottom of some water treatment plants because the fish are sensitive to chemical inbalances in their environment. When a disturbance is present in the water, the bluegills react to it.

Like these bluegills, Paul wanted the Galatians to beware of and react against many toxic disturbance in the “true Gospel” that was being preached. The toxin was being defined as the false principle that God grants acceptance to people and considers them righteous on the basis of their obedience to a set of rules (especially circumcision and dietary laws). In short, obedience to the law was needed, apart form faith in Jesus. This false teaching was a toxic disturbance of the truth and the Galatians were told to react strongly against it. Paul said that anyone preaching a gospel that is not based on grace through faith in Christ alone should be accursed (Gal. 1: 8-9).

Let’s faithfully study the Scriptures so we can detect the toxins of false teaching and proclaim the truth of God’s wonderful salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.

“IF YOU KNOW THE TRUTH, YOU CAN DISCERN WHAT’S FALSE.”

LIFE IS GOOD

Romans 8: 38-39 “I am persuaded that [nothing] shall be able to separate us from the Love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

When the work of earning a living, raising a family, maintaining health and fitness, and managing relationship start to overwhelm us, it’s good to think how small our part in the universe really is. While we obsess over our work, God quietly does His. He keeps the earth rotating, the planets revolving, and the seasons changing, without any help from us.

Life will at times be difficult, often it is painful, and for now it is imperfect. But still He is good, for in all these things nothing can separate us from God’s lavish expression of love.

A DONKEY IN LION’S CLOTHING

Scripture Reading: Matthew 7: 15-23

Verse 15: Beware of false prophets…in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.

The Bible tells us that the devil is in the business of imitating God. His goal is “to be like the Most High” (Isaiah 14: 12-15). Through deception, satan tries to replace Christ with a substitute. Jesus Himself warned us of false prophets and false christs: “Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My Name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.”

How can we tell the real Christ from the counterfeit? The only authentic Christ is the one described in Holy Scriptures. Anyone or anything that portrays a different Jesus than the One presented in the Bible is promoting “a donkey in lion’s clothing.”

“God’s  Word gives wisdom to discern what is false.”

OVERCOMING FRICTION IN CHRISTIAN SERVICE

CONFLICT – AN OPPORTUNITY FOR GROWTH.

How important relationships are! More than anything else, good and open relationships have encouraged and motivated me to press on in times of hardship, opposition or ill health. on the other hand, if ever i have wanted to quit and leave, it is because of strained or broken relationships. Relationship problems sap our joy, health and energy; they cause us sleepless nights, headaches and stomach ulcers.

We tend to consider conflict as something negative, and its absence a blessing. But is this a realistic view? After all, it is obvious that some problems are unavoidable and therefore to be expected. Conflict is inherent in human life. In addition, we need to recognise the fact that conflict is not necessarily bad in itself. Conflict is normal, natural and neutral. Our reaction to the conflict determines whether it becomes a positive or a negative force in our lives. Each conflict or crisis presents us with an opportunity to grow and mature.

Physical pain often motivates us to seek medical help. In the same way, emotional pain or conflict can be a motivation for us to seek to change and to learn to relate better to the people around us. It is not in spite of problems and conflicts that we become more mature people, but because of them. The Apostle James exhorts us, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverence. Perseverence must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything” (James 1: 2-4).

Although there is a potential for growth through conflict we must emphasize that it is not an automatic result of it. Tragically, some people suffer for nothing. There is a choice involved. Each conflict presents an opportunity, but also a risk. Hebrews chapter 12 tells us that we are to submit to our heavenly Father when He allows hardship to discipline us. We have to be trained by this discipline, so that we can reap the benefit of maturity.

Of course, we can refuse to submit; we can rebel against the Trainer and the training; we can choose to react with our natural pattern of reactions and fight circumstances and people. If we do this the conflict will still produce fruit in our lives, but of a negative sort. We will become angry, critical and defeated. Only if we submit to God and learn to react with spiritual responses, will the maturing take place.

A real hindrance to growth is that  we are often not honest about conflict. If we think that Christians should not have difficulties, we tend to deny or conceal our problems. Growth comes by facing conflicts and dealing with them in the right way.

GOD BLESS.
