THE POWER OF UNITY IN CHRIST
Acts 2: 1-4
1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
A MESSAGE TO THE GLOBAL CHURCH
Facing death, Jesus prayed not only for Himself, but also for His disciples and for us. His most urgent request on our behalf was:”That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me” (John 17:21).
As people who live by the Word, we need to remember that right words sound hollow to the world unless we, being one in Christ, are glorifying God with one mind and one voice. The world needs to see the “church” as one.
“By this may all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” We can change the world, and the world will have no reason to suffer any longer under the weight and bondage of:
- selfishness and hoarding
- bitterness and hatred
- war and power
- emptiness and loneliness
- fear and anguish
- inadequate supply and hunger
- killing and maiming
- insecurity and low self-esteem
- guilt and shame
- ignorance and the unknown
Prayer: Father, help the church to operate as one and be obedient to live according to the scriptures found in the Holy Bible. We ask for the presence of the Holy Spirit every time we get together as a band of believers to pray, no matter the distance or the location, because we believe in your omnipresence. We also ask that you use the church to make the world aware of your second coming. We ask all this in the Wonderful Name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. AMEN.
