Fasting and Prayer

Jesus fasted and prayed

Matt 4:1-11

Luke 4:1-13

1 Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, 2 being tempted for forty days by the devil. And in those days He ate nothing, and afterward, when they had ended, He was hungry. 3 And the devil said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.” 4 But Jesus answered him, saying, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.’ ”

JESUS himself is our greatest role model

He fasted for 40days and 40nights, eating nothing

If God Almighty could fast for 40 days and 40 nights, surely we can fast.

When you being tempted in your fast, remember Jesus could do it, so can you.

Fasting is a spiritual discipline and is not to impress Man

Matt 6:16

16 “Moreover, when you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with a sad countenance. For they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. 17 But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, 18 so that you do not appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

When you fast, you don’t need to advertise it or brag about to anyone. You need to do the fasting as unto the Lord and the Lord himself with reward you openly

True fasting as unto the Lord is the avoidance of solids foods from your diet. Some people even avoid water in their fasting.

True fasting is waiting at the feet of Jesus and remaining at the feet of Jesus for many hours. As you engage in this type of fast, you will have your miracle.

True fasting causes to become triumphant before God Almighty.

During the fast, there should be more prayer, more meditation on the Word of God and more time in the Presence of God.
